Activities
The Lochgoilhead Centre offers a wide range of activities both on water and land. Virtually all are carried out within walking distance of the centre, so more time is spent participating, not travelling. All activities are supervised and taught to the highest standards by qualified and enthusiastic staff.
All activities are weather dependant and some age restrictions may apply.
Activities on offer include:
Sailing
Sailing can be experienced in a variety of craft including Wayfarers, Toppers, Topaz and the more gentle Drascombes.
Whatever your skill level there is something for you.
Kayaking
Traditional single kayaks are always popular and we also have sit on top kayaks for the more unsure paddler. No worries about being trapped or trying to get spray decks off. You do get wet though!
Open Canoes
Also known as Canadian Canoes, these are a more leisurely craft where teamwork is essential if you want to get anywhere.
Bell Boats
Introduced in 2002, the giant twin canoes called Bell Boats are capable of carrying a large number of crew. We have two of these craft, which can often be seen racing each other down the loch.
Power Boating
Fast inflatable craft are used to supervise sailing and for powerboat training courses. Other powered craft are used to transport crews to the sailing fleet moored out on the loch.
Rock Climbing & Abseiling
Ever popular, rock climbing and abseiling sessions are run on our crag 300 feet above the centre. Wonderful views and the thrill and excitement of 'going over the edge'.
Burn Run
A very popular activity. Put on a wet suit, safety helmet and buoyancy aid and then immerse yourself in freezing cold water in the river gorge. It's madness but everyone loves it. Slow starters in the mornings wake up fast with this one.
Hill Walking
The surrounding hills are steep but they provide some magnificent views of Argyll. From low level forest paths to the high tops, there is something for everyone.
Target Archery
Depending on the weather this can be done both indoors and out. Sessions can be for a full two hours or run as a taster, mixed with other activities.
Orienteering
Adjacent to the centre we have a number of orienteering courses for all abilities. Village paths and forest tracks enable us to set out orienteering courses for wheelchair users.
Problem Solving
Problem solving tasks can be set out on site or in the surrounding area. Tasks can be used for team-building or simply as fun activities.
Climbing Wall
Built inside the boat shed, you can try climbing in the dry on our 5 metre high indoor climbing wall.
Mountain Biking
In the safety of the Centre grounds test your cycling skills on our purpose built bike track or venture out on to the forest tracks around the Centre.

An exciting and challenging climb up widely spaced and moving spars ...but the view from the top is worth it. Great team work exercise.
